Shadi barat

Shadi or wedding in India and Pakistan is very colourful event and in this event there are a lot of functions or ceremonies. Among these ceremonies one is barat, barat is an arrival of groom on marriage day at bride house or at venue. In this ceremony of barat the friends and other participants are known as barati, baratis are welcome and entertained at bride house. In most parts of Pakistan and India the groom ride on mare and start his journey towards bride house or venue with baratis.

Groom wear colourful turban and decorate flower veil on his forehead, ‘sarbaala’ is also accompanied with groom and usually he is groom younger brother or cousin. Baratis often have music band and participants dance on this music. There is also some time a fire work display which enhance beauty of barat,
Now trend has changed and groom travel by decorated car with his few friends while baratis travel by other vehicles. Baratis are welcome by bride family members and relatives at venue and all baratis take lunch or dinner there. After this newly wed couple comes back to their home and baratis are also returned to their homes.
