Shadi Dance in Pakistan

Khattak DanceKhattak dance is a type of dance which is usually performed in happy occasions like shadi and its origin is Pakistan and Afghanistan. In Peshawar region the khattaak dance is popular. This is pathans traditional, folk dance and known as Atanr, the dance performed with drums beat and the dancers decorated with glittering swords and colorful handkerchiefs.

The dance started with slow pace but as it progress it get rhythm and speed, at a time about thirty to forty men dance together. The charm of dance depend on speed, feet movement flexible body movements with beat of drums, mainly khattak dance consist of twelve steps. The dancer wear shalwar and kamees which is look like frock and waistcoat, the waiscoat decorated with color threads and embroidery.
