Hajj in urduThe Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, Kaaba is center of all Muslims throughout the world and they perform prayers towards this Kaaba. Pilgrimage or hajj is one of the five basic pillars of religion Islam, it is compulsory for Muslims that they perform Hajj at least once in their life if they can bear expenses of this holy visit. There is a clear difference between Hajj and Umrah, Hajj is performed is a specific time of the year. Hajj is performed in eighth to twelfth day of Zil Hijjah, which is the eighth month of Islamic calendar. However, Umrah, which is ordinary pilgrimage can be performed by Muslims at any day and time of the year. Pilgrim take specific clothes for Hajj, male wear two pieces of white cloth, bur female wear their normal clothes. Women should cover their whole body from head to feet, Hajj is specific in days and all its events are performed by Pilgrims according to Islamic calendar and according to Zil Hijjah days. Here is a short step-by-step Hajj guideline for Pilgrims.

Zil Hijjah 8
It is the first day of hajj and all should complete hajj preparations after Maghrib (evening) prayer. Ready your Ihram, trim beard and mustache, clear all unwanted body hair and trim nails. Take a bath or do ablutions (wudu) with intention of Ihram, wear such types of shoes which do not cover upper part of the foot. Men offer two rakahs nafl salah for Ihram in the Haram and women perform this at their homes. After this uncover your head recite intention saying “O Allah! I intend to perform Hajj. Please make it easy for me and accept it from me. Amen.” It is ordered for men that they say it loudly while women say it low tone. After, sunrise Pilgrims should leave for Mina and say Talbiyah frequently and offer Zuhar, Asr, Maghrib and Isha prayers and offer nine Zil Hijjah Fajr prayer in Mina.
